This course explores the central role of the Bible for Anglicans. We will begin with a brief historical overview and then consider Anglican approaches to biblical interpretation, looking at literary, historical and rhetorical interpretive lenses. We will seek to illuminate the dialogue between scripture and tradition in Anglicanism through reading the Bible in conjunction with representative Anglican resources. Our ultimate goal is a fuller appreciation of the role of the Bible as a lightning rod for orthodox religious discussions in the Anglican Church today.
