The Episcopal Church in Minnesota subsidizes 2/3 of the cost of School for Formation courses and cohorts significantly in order to keep expenses as low as possible for participants.
In 2016-17, most of the online courses we offer cost $300. That cost includes lunch at the in-person gathering at the ECMN Retreat Center. Click here to find out more about Tuition and Fees for Formation for the Diaconate and the Priesthood.
ECMN Matching Grants
Pending approval, ECMN’s School for Formation offers matching grants to ordination-track students with financial need who receive supporting funds from their sending parish, up to 1/3 the cost of the course or $100 per course, whichever is lower.
Grant Application Form: 2016-17-Matching Grant Request
Plan to pay by check (rather than paying online with your credit card) if you are applying for a matching grant. Upon receipt of your application, we will notify you and your faith community of the status of your application. We will do our best to respond to your financial aid application within one month.
For budgeting purposes, a faith community seeking to support an individual taking courses in preparation for diaconal or priestly ministry might plan to contribute $1000 per calendar year to that individual’s formation.
It is the expectation of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota that students in the School for Formation will participate fully in their own learning, including taking responsibility in the financial cost of their studies. However, we hope that the cost would not prevent anyone from pursuing formation for leadership.
If extenuating circumstances exist that would preclude you from being able to participate even with the financial aid described above, please contact Missioner for Formation Susan Daughtry, email@example.com.
